IMPORTANT: Please note to become a volunteer, you must register with Miami Dade County Public Schools online through their portal. Even if you did this last year, you still need to go in and “refresh” your status.
- First log on to the “Parent Portal“.
Click the Services/Sites tab on the top.
Select “Be a School Volunteer!” then choose your school(s) and the activity(ies) you wish to volunteer.
Once you have completed all the information online, you must bring a copy of your driver’s license to the school office to complete the registrations procedures.
Throughout the school year, our PTSA sponsors, coordinates, and plans the following events and programs:
Photocopy Assistant: CRHS clerical staff need assistance with photocopying duties each day. Please choose volunteer slots in one-hour increments (but you are certainly not limited to one hour).
Office Assistant (first week of school): The main office needs Level 2 volunteers to help alphabetize student emergency cards during the first week of school.
The Cuda Baitshop: Assist with PTSA sales. Currently the physical baitshop is closed however we do have “Curbside Pickup” every Wednesdays from 5pm – 6pm.
General PTSA Help (year round): Assist with and coordinate setup and cleanup at events whenever possible.
Open House (October): The PTSA needs general help ensuring that children and parents have a successful meet and greet with teachers and staff.
Principal’s Staff Holiday Breakfast (December): This annual event is hosted by our principal for the teachers and staff of Coral Reef High School. The PTSA is asked to help provide homemade or store bought items for the breakfast. This is done with the help of our parents through donations of breakfast items. Parent volunteers are needed to receive items at the drop off area in front of the school as early as 6:30am on the day of the event.
Freshman Orientation (August):Incoming fall Freshman Orientation is held the Saturday prior to the first day of school. Volunteers are needed for PTSA membership recruiting and Spirit Wear sales between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm on the day of the event.
Reflections Exhibit & Awards Gala (November-December): This evening is filled with art and poems from the Reflections Arts contestants, as music and dance are performed by our students. As always, dinner will be served, and all students that are PTSA members who attend, will receive community hours. Parent volunteers are needed to help stage the Media Center and help with the set up, serving, and clean up of dinner.
Freshman Registration (Early spring): Incoming fall Freshman Registration Day is held during the Spring. Volunteers are needed for PTSA membership recruiting and Spirit Wear sales between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm on the day of the event.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon (Spring): This event is usually held in the Spring. PTSA asks parents to consider sending in a favorite dessert, either home-made or store bought, or a monetary contribution to help us purchase desserts for the luncheon. Volunteers are also needed to help the day of the event. If you are an early morning person, we can use help starting at 6:30 am to accept the dessert donations at carpool and in front of the main office. Volunteers are also needed for setup and serving, we would welcome anyone who wants to help any step along the way.
Prep Rally Testing Kickoff (April): Formerly called, FCAT Kick Off, help provide assistance and refreshments to students before they begin 40 days of testing.
Restore The Reef Day (4 events): Coral Reef High School’s Beautification Day is held four times throughout the school year from 8:00am to noon. The committee will need the help of 150 student and parent volunteers for general cleanup of the school grounds, pulling weeds, and planting of flowers. Student Volunteers will receive community service hours for work.
Take Your Child to Work Day: Volunteers are needed to organize setup and cleanup, decorations or bring a dish.
Ready For Reef (June): Help staff welcome incoming freshman to Coral Reef and help serve PTSA sponsored lunch for students.
Teacher Work Day Event (last day of school): Volunteers are needed to organize setup and cleanup, decorations or bring a dish.
