Please remember to keep updating SCOIR with all your acceptances, waitlists and declines.
The Honors College at Miami Dade has begun to inform students of their acceptance into the program. Please email me letting me know if you were accepted to MDC Honors!
JUNIORS – Class of 2023
Please remember to activate your SCOIR accounts – if you haven’t done so already (look for those invitations on your DADESCHOOLS email available on your portal – not your @coralreef.org email). If you need assistance, please reach out – I’m happy to help!

Quest Bridge – College Prep Scholars Program

The College Prep Scholars Program equips high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges.
Being a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that shows our college partners that you are a competitive candidate for admission. In addition, your application will automatically carry over for the National College Match when you’re a senior, giving you a head start on applying for a full four-year scholarship to our college partners.

The College Essay Guy is a gentleman named Ethan Sawyer (who is actually a MDCPS graduate) who provides all kinds of college access information, trainings, support and more. He has recently partnered with SCOIR. I encourage you all to explore his resources and services.

2022 Miami National College Fair
The National College Fair is almost here. There are over 200 exhibitors, colleges and universities ready to meet you! Please visit Miami College Fair Exhibitors to see which schools will be on-hand. And please don’t forget to pre-register to attend here so you can save lots of time at the fair AND take advantage of the new Matchmaking feature to spend time with the institutions that best fit you!

Money Mondays
As you receive financial aid award letters, you may be confused as to what it all means and how you will pay for college. MDCPS’s College Assistance Program (CAP) is offering a series of live webinars to help. Money Mondays is a series of Monday evening webinars regarding financial matters associated with attending a post-secondary institution. These webinars include an array of topics that will assist students and families with their enrollment decisions.
These webinars will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, through Monday, April 25, 2022. The following webinars will be offered:

For the academic year 2020-2021, the average tuition & fees for Public Colleges in Florida is $3,891 for in-state and $8,908 for out-of-state. The amount is lower than the national average. The 2021 national average tuition & fees is $6,852 for in-state students and $17,943 for out-of-state students.
Among Public Colleges in Florida, New College of Florida has the most expensive tuition & fees of $29,944 and Cape Coral Technical College has the lowest tuition & fees of $778.

CRHS PTSA Annual Scholarship Award

This is a one-time scholarship award worth $500.00. Scholarship monies can be used for tuition, textbooks and necessary school-related expenses. There will be 13 scholarships of $500.00 each awarded, one for each strand within the 6 Coral Reef High School Academies: Agriscience, Engineering, Business, Health Sciences, International Baccalaureate, Legal, Band, Chorus, Dance, Orchestra, Theater, Visual Arts and Access Academy!
The Nadine Bryant McMillon Scholarship
Opens on March 2
Mrs. Nadine B. McMillon was the first PTSA President at CRHS. Her dedication to The Reef was unparalleled. Mrs. McMillon inspired other parents and grandparents to actively participate in the PTSA and other community service activities. The Coral reef PTSA honors her memory and continues her legacy.

MDCC PTA/PTSA is pleased to offer scholarships to high school students graduating in the 2021-2022 school year. DGF, LLC Scholarship Program

US Merchant Marine Academy
The US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), one of the five federal service academies that include West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, and Coast Guard academies, is pleased to offer the following opportunities for interested students. Midshipmen (students) at USMMA receive full tuition, room and board, and books at no cost.

SUMMER PROGRAMS
University of Delaware
The Edge summer college program is a three-week, credit-bearing college experience held July 10 – 30, 2022. Edge is designed for accomplished and highly motivated high school students going into their junior and senior years.
Students in Edge will prepare for college by learning from engaging and highly-respected University of Delaware faculty and staff. They will take part in on- and off-campus activities and build community with students from all over the world.
