As we continue through the 2nd half of the school year, there is much happening in the CAP office.


Each day we receive more and more good news as seniors continue receiving their admissions acceptances. We are so proud of you! Seniors, please remember:

·         Continue logging into SCOIR and updating your college application status.

·         Keep checking your emails for scholarship opportunities. There is still a LOT of money out there.

·         Apply for Bright Futures – even IB students have to complete the application process.

·         Complete FAFSA – remember, the money can run out!


I had such an amazing time presenting to all the Juniors over the last few weeks as they get ready to start their college search and applications. Juniors – If you were absent or missed the College Research presentation, please reach out, I’d be happy to meet with you and go over the PowerPoint and any questions you may have. Juniors should:

·         Ensure their SCOIR account is active

·         Join the Schology 2023 CAP group (email me for the code)

Freshmen and Sophomores:

It’s never too early to start thinking about, preparing for, and researching colleges. What should you be doing? Get involved! Complete community service, excel in your classwork. It will all pay off! You’ll start receiving LOTS of resources from me soon.

CRHS PTSA Annual Scholarship Award

This is a one-time scholarship award worth $500.00.  Scholarship monies can be used for tuition, textbooks and necessary school-related expenses.  There will be 13 scholarships of $500.00 each awarded, one for each strand within the 6 Coral Reef High School Academies: Agriscience, Engineering, Business, Health Sciences, International Baccalaureate, Legal, Band, Chorus, Dance, Orchestra, Theater, Visual Arts and Access Academy!

Science Saves

The Center for Inquiry is pleased to announce the #ScienceSaves High School Video Scholarship for College-Bound High School Seniors!

Create a 20-30 second video answering the question “What has science done for me?” or “What has science done for somebody I know?” You will be judged on your ability to highlight how science saves in a succinct, creative way with original photos, video clips, and text. Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship

Students from across the U.S. are invited to apply for P.L.A.Y.’s annual Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship. This scholarship rewards one student who can tell the best story, describing the impact he or she made in the life of a rescue animal or animal welfare cause in general. Submit 2-3 photos of your volunteer efforts to help animals in need. The contest is open to U.S. residents. Awards: First prize: $1,500; Second prize: $300; third prize: $200.

Students are challenged to step outside their comfort zone and experience life as a working journalist. In the past, our students spoke with policymakers, reported from a massive immigration march, and highlighted issues affecting teens during the pandemic. They learned how to interview strangers, ask probing questions, and assemble information in a concise story with a deadline.

Students learn practical skills over each two-week session, but they also get a taste of how a newsroom operates.
